In December 2007, I received my Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a major in Child and Family Studies, PreK-4. My passion is teaching literacy. I enjoy the challenge and process of teaching children how to read and seeing their enthusiasm build as they become fluent readers. As a lifelong learner, I continued my education and, in May 2011, I received my Master’s of Education: Reading Specialist from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. I obtained my Reading Specialist license and am reading certified Pre-K through 12th grade.

Working with children has always been a passion of mine. I began this journey through babysitting and working at my church. In college I was given the opportunity to work as an intern in children's and youth ministry while pursuing my degree in education. I began my teaching career in 2007 and I have taught kindergarten, first, and I am currently teaching second grade. I have been at Hixson for nine years and have enjoyed the opportunity to be involved with this community.

I am originally from Jackson, TN but came to Chattanooga to attend college and liked it so much I decided to stay. In my free time I enjoy anything outdoors such as running, walking, and spending my summers in West TN on the river with my family. I also enjoy reading, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends.
